Alex Viktorov

Security Software Engineer

I’m a Security Software Engineer with deep experience in personnel and workload identity, platform security, and the design of public APIs and backend services.

Over the past decade I’ve worked across cloud infrastructure, autonomous vehicles, ride-sharing, and search — building systems that handle identity, authentication, and authorization at scale.

Most of my work falls into a few areas:

Zero-Trust & Identity — Designing and operating SPIFFE/SPIRE-based workload identity systems, x509 certificate chains, and PKI infrastructure. I’ve built control planes that replaced static secrets with cryptographic identity across heterogeneous cloud environments.

Platform Security — Securing Kubernetes clusters, automating secrets provisioning, hardening cloud infrastructure through policy enforcement, and consulting on certificate lifecycle for safety-critical systems.

Authentication & Access Management — Building multi-factor authentication systems, service-to-service auth middleware, and access control that enabled compliance with PCI and FedRAMP requirements.

Reliability & Observability — Designing release validation frameworks, alerting systems, and monitoring for large-scale services where regressions have direct revenue impact.

I hold an M.Sc. in Computer Science & Engineering.

Born in Ukraine, I grew up in Jordan, studied in Germany, and now live in the US. That journey left me with a habit of picking up languages — I speak Ukrainian, English, Arabic, German, Spanish, and Russian.

Outside of work, I tinker with hardware of any type and purpose.
